Fabo Cafe- Oct 19th. Fabo’s in Charlotte is hosting a singles party and will have a drink made in dedication for Ruffed Up. The purchase of this drink donates money to Ruffed Up. So stop by and ask for their Ruffed Up Rescue drink to help us out on Oct 19th.

Dogtoberfest 2011

Ruffed up will be at this event on Oct. 22 from 10-1 in Dallas, NC. There will be vendors, adoptions, facepainting, food, games and vets on site to ask questions. Come out and see us!

FABO’s Cafe Adoption events

Starting Oct 30th at 12:00 pm. Ruffed Up will be having adoption events at Fabo Cafe in Charlotte. This will be a every other Sunday event. Fabo will be hosting a cookie decorating contest for families that attend.

Nov. 2011

Spay and Neuter Event- Nov. 13-14. Ruffed Up will be helping out with the free spay and neuter clinic in York County hosted by Lulu’s Rescue. This will be an all day event both Saturday and Sunday. If you’re interested in volunteering to help out, please email us at: ruffeduprescue@yahoo.com

This is Issy. She was abandoned tied to a tree by a chain around her neck. She was severely neglected and forgotten. While being abandoned she got a severe yeast infection on her skin from the lack of nutrition and lost all her hair from malnourishment and itching. She spent a month at Animal control and got the attention of few sponsors who helped to get her to safety. She is a loving pup and will be up for adoption asap. Were working on getting more of her hair back currently, but she’s well on her way! She’s currently doing great in foster with other dogs and cats. She even likes kiddos!

This is Issy now!

Meet Louie and Elliot! These two brothers were both starved and then dumped at a local park where Animal Control picked them up. They were infested with fleas/ticks and severely malnourished. I can say that these two dogs KNOW they have been rescued. They are both loving, joyful, friendly and happy go lucky dogs! They do not have any food aggression or have shown any behavioral or temperament issues at all. They just want to play and be loved on. Elliot is the shepherdx and is about a year old. Louie is a labx and about three years old. They are only up for adoption together…after all these two have been through…Ruffed Up Rescue sees we cannot split these two guys up. They are true brothers and rely on one another.

Sophie, is a 17 year old chow. Her owners lost their housing and she was left in a closed car during a blistering summer day. She was surrendered to Ruffed Up and taken to the vet with a temp of 109. In efforts to save her, they had to shave her down.

This is Sophie now. She’s been adopted and is doing great with her new family. She also made a special appearance at a recent adoption event!

This is Marley. He was at Gaston AC like this for sometime before coming into Ruffed Up Rescue. The day before his rescue, volunteers helped give this boy a much needed hair cut. Due to his abandonment and neglect of his coat some of his fur had to be cut very short. He is working on growing back out a gorgeous mane to match his stunning personality.

Ruffed Up Rescue Foster Application
This is Dylan. As of 9/15/11 he’s about 5-6 months old. Were thinking he’s a plott hound/coonhound mix. He’s house trained, crate trained and comes with lots of love to give! He’s about 25-30 lbs right now.

Marley

He is the sweetest, most loving dog. Marley is approx 2-3 yrs old, he has been fully vetted which includes neuter, rabies vaccination, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed and he is Heartworm negative! Marley is crate trained, housebroken and loves to snuggle. We have been fostering him and haven’t crated him at all and he hasn’t had any accidents and he hasn’t done a thing wrong. Marley loves riding in the car, loves going to Petsmart. He is gentle when taking treats, he likes to lay on his bed and watch the world through the window. Marley LOVES taking walks…as soon as he hears the leash he can’t stop wagging his tail! He isn’t aggressive toward cats but he wants to chase them around and play…so I think a home without cats would be better for this boy. Marley was abandoned by an owner who underfed him and never groomed him. When we rescued him, his coat was severely matted…his tail was so heavy he wasn’t able to lift it off the ground. We had no choice but to shave his tail and cut all the mats out of him…so at the moment he has a pretty bad haircut but his coat will grow back…and when it does this guy is going to be magnificent!! Marley has the most beautiful hazel eyes, light freckles across his nose and looks like a little lion! He weighs at 45lbs currently but he is underweight and will need to gain about 15lbs. So he does have Great Pyr in him but he is the size of a husky! Such an adorable guy and we love him!! I think Marley will make a wonderful addition to any family that wants a larger dog, has a fenced in yard and plenty of love to give!!

Foster a Dog

Would you like to foster a dog? What is fostering? Fostering is a rewarding experience! Ruffed Up Rescue pays all the vet bills, we provide supplies and will provide a crate if needed. All we ask is that you provide your foster dog with plenty of love, basic training and the time needed for the pup to get ready for their forever family. If you would like more information on fostering, please email us at ruffeduprescue@yahoo.com . Foster homes are a mandatory part of saving a life. Without fosters…these dogs have no place to go and will be euthanized.

Ruffed Up Rescue Petfinder

Meet Louie!! He is a 2 year old labx who was starved almost to death and abandoned at a local park. Three months later…Louie is magnificent with his shiny, healthy coat and wonderful, loving personality!! Louie is crate trained, housebroken and loves attention!! He is currently being leash trained and is very eager to please! Louie loves to run and play ball! He does need a house with a fence because he needs exercise and a family who will let him run and chase frisbees! He would make a wonderful addition to anyone’s family because Louie knows he was rescued! He appreciates every toy he is given and every single person who shows him love! Louie is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed and microchipped!

Meet Elliot!! Elliot is a 1.5 year old Golden mix. He was rescued from a high kill shelter with his Best bud Louie (on Petfinder as well). Elliot is a medium sized dog who LOVES everyone he meets and is the most happy go lucky boy ever!! He loves playing ball, loves riding in the car, he enjoys meeting new people and running around the yard. Elliot is crate trained, housebroken and is learning how to be well-mannered on the leash. Elliot is a beautiful boy who wiggles his butt with excitement when he sees someone to play with!

Meet Oakley. She is a 1 year old Lab/Pit mix who is about 35-40 lbs & needs a forever family. Oakley is great with kids and people. She loves to play with her doggie friends. Oakley is housebroken, crate-trained and is learning how to leash walk. She is getting better on a leash although she still pulls a bit. She loves to play, run and snuggle with her family. Oakley is fully vaccinated, spayed and a very healthy dog. She is a happy girl who loves everyone!!

This is Russell. We call him a lab/sharpei mix. He’s about 2-3 years old. He’s such a sweet boy and does well with other dogs. He’s in foster and learning how to be a good dog and trained! This was him at the shelter the day before he was rescued. He’s such a sweetie and will even give kisses when asked!
